About Rachel McCrum

I became a therapist because of my own life, not despite it. Watching addiction touch people I love and living through relationships that weren't safe could have stayed things that happened to me — instead, they're the reason I do this work. I believe real, lasting change is possible for anyone willing to put the work in, and my faith has only deepened that conviction. My style is friendly but direct: I'll push you when you need pushing, and I see therapy as something we do together — not something I do to you.

Our first session feels more like a conversation than an intake form — casual, but never small talk. From there, I give you space to say what you need to say before I respond, stepping in only when something is worth naming in the moment. Depending on what you're working through, our sessions may draw on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to shift thought patterns that aren't serving you, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to manage big emotions, mindfulness to stay grounded in the present, and motivational interviewing to help you find your own reasons for change. I do my best work with clients who arrive ready — not just to talk, but to actually change.

When I'm not in session, I'm usually outside in Colorado — hiking, biking, walking our husky shepherd Zelda, or by the pool with my husband and our daughter Abigail (born on the 4th of July, which tells you everything about our little firecracker). Most of our family time happens outdoors, on a mountain trail or in the water. When I slow down, I'm crocheting, reading, or working on my own fitness — because I try to practice what I encourage in the therapy room.

Giving Back

I reserve a portion of my practice each week for community partnerships, working alongside local organizations to support children and families who might not otherwise have access to therapy. It's a quiet but important part of why I do this work.
